Amazon River Dolphin Monitoring
We participate in scientific expeditions along the Morona River to support the monitoring of the iconic Amazon river dolphins, a keystone species in aquatic ecosystems and a bioindicator of river health. This program aligns with Ecuador’s National River Dolphin Conservation Plan, which we helped develop alongside specialists and the national environmental authority, and which has been in effect since April 2025.

Monitoring and Conservation of Amazonian Primates
Through patrols and continuous observation, our team evaluates the diversity and conservation status of several monkey species that inhabit the forests of Selva Eterna. These actions are key to understanding their distribution in the area and developing strategies to protect this important fauna group, most of which are listed as threatened.
Using camera traps, territorial surveillance, and interviews with local residents, we generate data on the presence, movement patterns, and human–jaguar interactions of this top Amazonian predator. Its protection requires reducing threats and conserving large areas of continuous forest—critical for the survival of thousands of Amazonian species.

Monitoring the Guardians of Water
Monitoring and studying amphibian communities
Our projects include specialized research on the diversity and health of Amazonian amphibian populations, supported by universities and specialized laboratories. Amphibians are sensitive to environmental changes and play key roles in maintaining ecological balance.

Studies on Tree and Plant Diversity in Unexplored Forests
Floral diversity and dynamics
The forests of Selva Eterna harbor a vast and still unexplored plant richness. Through sampling plots and monitoring, we aim to gather information on species diversity, endemism, ecological interactions, natural regeneration processes, and carbon storage—contributing to the botanical knowledge of these underexplored areas of the country.

Integration of Ancestral Shuar Knowledge
Ancestral knowledge, ways of life, and ecology
Conservation at Selva Eterna is built with the communities. Our knowledge integration program promotes dialogue between science and Shuar cosmovision, as well as the wisdom of mestizo settlers—revitalizing their connection to the forest, medicinal plants, natural cycles, and territorial stewardship. This alliance is essential to achieve a conservation model that is culturally relevant and socially just.
